Storm five-eighth Blake Green says he is excited at the chance to play finals football in his first year with the Club.

Making the move from Wigan in the English Super League back to the NRL in 2015, Green has made a seamless transition into the Melbourne line-up and will play a crucial playmaking role in Storm’s Preliminary Final on Saturday week.

“That’s exactly the reason I came back here was to be a part of a quality club like Storm and be involved in finals games,” Green said.

“I’m very lucky we’ve had a strong back end to the season and created that opportunity to play in these big games.”

Three weeks ago Melbourne were in the midst of a logjam in the bottom half of the top eight looking to secure a finals position, now they find themselves hosting a Preliminary Final at AAMI Park.

“It’s amazing how things can change,” Green said on Tuesday.

“We worked really hard at training, we had a good chat about things and I think our performances have been pretty good over the last month, especially defensively.

“We’ve created a great opportunity now to have a prelim at home down here at AAMI Park so we’re looking forward to it.”

While Storm have earned the week off courtesy of Friday night’s win, the 28-year old explained there would be no chance of Melbourne resting on their laurels.

“We’ve certainly got some down time to refresh and relax a little bit but we’ll be training at the same high intensity we do every week,” Green said.
