Overview:

Mitch Garbutt managed six games in 2014, his last season with Melbourne Storm.

The powerful prop was used off the bench early in the season for four consecutive games between Round 4 and 8 before returning mid-year, averaging 26 minutes of game time.

An injury in Round 13 meant the 25-year old would not make another NRL appearance for the year with Garbutt finishing the season in reserve-grade after overcoming injury.

Garbutt was prominent for Queensland Cup feeder side Easts Tigers throughout 2014, playing 11 games which included a Grand Final appearance.

2014 ‘Moment’:

An impressive solo effort in February’s Auckland Nines tournament was a flashpoint of Garbutt’s season. Showcasing the forward’s raw power and strength, an explosive run from Garbutt in his own half stunned the Dragons on the stroke of half-time.
