Melbourne's NYC Thunderbolts suffered their second straight defeat on Saturday, falling to the Knights 38-0 at Hunter Stadium.

Travelling to Newcastle looking to bounce back following their Round 21 loss to Wests Tigers, Melbourne weren't able to turn their fortunes against the first-placed Knights.

Joshua Birch and Braden Robson each scored doubles for the home side, while Brock Lamb added to his side's winning margin with five conversions for the match.

The Thunderbolts will look to move back into the NYC top eight next weekend when they host the 15th placed Cronulla next Saturday afternoon at AAMI Park.
