Storm crash Broncos' farewell party

Farewell Reyno: It wasn't the way premiership-winning playmaker Adam Reynolds wanted to sign off but he was given a great reception by the Broncos faithful at full-time. Reynolds' glittering NRL career came to a premature end when injury forced him into retirement two games earlier than he would have liked but he and his family shared a special moment after the match.

Full-time: In front of 36,476 fans at Suncorp Stadium the Storm ambushed the Broncos' final home game for the 2026 season. Brisbane managed to wrestle back some possession in the second half but it was missed tackles (44) where we saw the big difference in the two sides. Winger Siulagi Tuimalatu-Brown had a night out on Storm's right edge with 170 run metres to go with his first career hat-trick.

80 min: Melbourne get one on the buzzer with Hughes putting a perfectly weighted high ball to the boot and Tuimalatu-Brown bagging a hat-trick. Storm 46-20.

75 min: Melbourne opt for the rule change again but fumble the ball from the kick-off, putting Brisbane straight back on the attack. Storm's defence holds firm.

74 min: Hunt almost throws another intercept with Oryn Keeley knocking down a long pass. Mam picks up the loose ball and goes over untouched for his second try of the night. Storm 42-20.

72 min: Blake Mozer leaves the field for a HIA in the last 15 min after some big contact with Utoikamanu. The knock was deemed Category 1.

71 min: More points go begging for Brisbane with a sweet pass from Mam finding Karapani in space but the winger puts his foot into touch before launching his dive for the corner.

67 min: Storm just about put the game out of reach as Tuimalatu-Brown pounces on a long ball from Hunt and races 90m downfield after taking the intercept. Storm 42-14.

64 min: To sum up their night, Brisbane blunder another opportunity in the Red Zone and Faalogo is tackled into touch after regathering the loose ball. Storm scrum 10m out of their own line.

59 min: Leo returns to the field and Melbourne capitalise immediately. The big-three - Grant, Hughes and Munster - combine and it's Faalogo who dives on a pinpoint grubber in the in-goal. Storm 36-14.

58 min: The Storm gift back-to-back sets for infringements on their line but Brisbane blunder a golden opportunity with Payne Haas knocking the ball on. 

51 min: With a player down, Grant opts for the rule change and Storm come up with the football from the kick-off. 

50 min: Hunt starts and finishes a try as Brisbane kick three times to keep the ball alive and the veteran halfback crosses in the right corner. Storm 30-14.

49 min: Melbourne go down to 12 men. Jordan Riki takes a carry in the back field and is reeled in by Wishart. Leo comes over the top in the tackle and is placed on report and sent to the sin bin for a shoulder charge.

47 min: Walters scoots from dummy half and loses it after some heavy contact from Alec MacDonald.

45 min: Grant Anderson wins the contest for a Ben Hunt high ball but loses control in the put down. No try.

44 min: With heavy rain falling, both sides do well to get through their opening sets but Loiero comes up with the first handling error to hand Brisbane the ball at halfway.

Half-time: The Storm completed 16 of 20 sets at 80 per cent and had Brisbane on the back foot with 50 more post contact metres and 27 tackle breaks compared to the Broncos' 6. We didn't see wither team opt for the trial kick-off rule change. Brisbane also had 27 missed tackles compared to the Storm's six.

40 min: Melbourne roll the dice and come up trumps! A Harry Grant banana kick off the scrum gets picked up by Faalogo who gets an offload off to Wishart who crashes over for a first-half double. Meaney adds the extras from in front. Storm 30-10.

36 min: Brisbane get one back. A loose offload by Munster is intercepted by Ezra Mam who races 80m downfield to narrow the margin. Storm 24-10.

34 min: Billy Walters leaves the field for a HIA after heavy contact with Angus Hinchey which he later passed.

32 min: Melbourne build pressure on the back of a repeat set in the Red Zone. Storm go right and Siulagi Tuimalatu-Brown beats Karapani to surge over the line. Brisbane still don't opt for the rule change. Storm 24-4.

29 min: Storm forward Shawn Blore leaves the field for a HIA which he later passed.

29 min: Momentum quickly shifts back to Brisbane with Cameron Munster throwing a pass forward off the kick-off. Melbourne hold on.

27 min: Trent Loiero's footwork close to the line has the Broncos scrambling and Tyran Wishart crashes over from close range. Storm 18-4.

26 min: A careless tackle on Jahrome Hughes following a last tackle kick puts the Broncos back under the pump inside the red zone.

22 min: A golden opportunity for Melbourne after Billy Walters knocks the ball on in their own end. Storm shift right and Faalogo and Meaney combine to put the visitors further ahead. Storm 12-4

18 min: Melbourne build pressure in their attacking zone on the back of a set restart and shift the ball from left to the right to find Kotoni Staggs in space who beats Tyran Wishart one-on-one to score. Nick Meaney can't add the extras. Storm 6-4.

16 min: Shawn Blore knocks the ball on in the play the ball in the set after points. Melbourne challenge the call but are unsuccessful.

15 min: Stefano Utoikamanu carries several Storm defenders over the line to crash over for the first try of the match. Brisbane do not opt for the trial change kick off rule. Storm 6-0

14 min: Pat Catrrigan gifts Melbourne a penalty 10m out from their try line for a grapple.

13 min: Billy Walters surge into space and grubbers for Deine Mariner but the ball rolls bounces over the sideline.

7 min: A strong run from Karapani puts Melbourne back on the attack in the Red Zone. Storm go short on the drop off after a try-saving take from Sua Faalogo and come up with the football. 

5 min: A spectacular take from Moses Leo gets Storm out of trouble.

3 min: Both sides complete their first set. Storm are winning the battle for field position before a crusher tackle on Josiah Karapani and set restart carries Brisbane into their attacking zone.

Broncos: No changes 90-minutes before kick-off with Michael Maguire sticking with the same 19-man squad on the back of a stunning comeback win in Canberra. Ben Hunt again will start in the halves and Tom Duffy on the bench. Hayze Perham retains the No.1 jersey on the back of a standout display against the Raiders.

Storm: No late changes with Jahrome Hughes returning at halfback after three games out with a hamstring injury. Tyran Wishart moves to the centres after playing No.7 last week. He takes over from Jack Howarth, who has been stood down for the remainder of the year to undergo surgery on a previous shoulder injury. Marion Seve joins the interchange after two games in NSW Cup following an extended break with a triceps injury.
