Jersey Flegg Report: Round 23

Melbourne Storm’s Jersey Flegg side produced an impressive second-half comeback to defeat the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles 40–24 in Round 23.

Storm started strongly, with Victory Isaako opening the scoring in the 12th minute before Waka Hammond crossed in the 31st minute to extend Melbourne’s advantage.

Manly responded with three tries of their own, leaving Storm trailing 16–8 going into the interval.

Melbourne returned from the break with renewed energy, as Victory Isaako quickly made his mark again, crossing for his second try in the 45th minute.

The momentum continued to build for Melbourne as Keaton Stutt crossed in the 64th minute, before Jett Ryan added another try in the 69th minute to put Storm further ahead.

Waka Hammond then grabbed his second try of the afternoon in the 72nd minute, with Burnham Salesa crossing just three minutes later in the 75th minute as Melbourne continued to dominate the second half and control the game.

Victory Isaako completed his hat-trick in the 78th minute, while also being reliable on boot, capping off an outstanding individual performance and sealing Storm’s impressive 40–24 victory.

After trailing by eight points at the break, Storm ran in six second half tries to completely turn the contest around and claim a remarkable win.

Storm’s Jersey Flegg side will now have a bye week but hope to continue their winning momentum into Round 25 against the Panthers back at home.
