NSW Cup Report: Round 22

Melbourne Storm's NSW Cup side produced a determined second-half effort but were unable to overcome the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, falling 20–10 at Seabrook Reserve in Round 22. 

The opening stages were tightly contested, with Storm defending strongly despite the Bulldogs holding the majority of possession and field position. 

The Bulldogs eventually broke through halfway into the first half before adding two late tries to take a 14–0 lead into the halftime break.  

Melbourne responded positively after the interval, applying sustained pressure attacking the Bulldogs line before Davvy Moale crashed over in the 58th minute to score Storm's opening try. Dylan Brettle added the conversion to reduce the margin and give the home side a renewed spark. 

The Bulldogs answered shortly after to restore their advantage but a try to Amaziah Murgha in the 68th minute brought Melbourne back within 10 points and set up an exciting finish. 

Despite creating opportunities late in the piece, Storm were unable to add further points to the board as the Bulldogs held on for the 20–10 victory. 

Despite a difficult opening half, Storm will be hoping to take the positives out of the improved second stanza when they suit up against the Sea Eagles back at home on Sunday at Seabrook Reserve.
