Jersey Flegg Report: Round 16

Melbourne Storm’s Jersey Flegg side fell just short against the Canberra Raiders in Round 16, suffering a heartbreaking 28-24 defeat at Gosch’s Paddock.

Storm dominated the opening half, keeping the Raiders scoreless while crossing for four tries to take a commanding 20-0 lead into the break.

The visitors emerged a different side in the second half, responding with five tries to wrestle back momentum and put pressure on the home side.

Waka Hammond looked to have secured victory for Melbourne when he crossed with just three minutes remaining to reclaim the lead, but the Raiders had the final say, scoring in the closing seconds to snatch the win.

Despite a strong performance, Storm were unable to hold on as Canberra claimed the 28-24 victory.

Melbourne will now look to bounce back in Round 17 when they travel to Sydney to take on the Parramatta Eels.
