Jersey Flegg Report: Round 14

Melbourne Storm’s Jersey Flegg side delivered one of their strongest attacking performances of the season, defeating the Newcastle Knights 42-22 in Round 14.

After conceding early, Storm quickly settled into the contest through Hayden Watson, who crossed twice in the opening half to swing momentum back in Storm’s favour.

Dylan Brettle added to the first-half points surge with a strong finish in the 28th minute before Lockyer-Azile Foliola crossed three minutes as Storm began to take control of the match.

Dylan Brettle then grabbed his second try just before the interval, helping Melbourne establish a strong 26-16 lead following an impressive offensive first half.

Storm maintained their momentum after halftime, with Amare Milford crossing early in the second half to extend the lead.

Hayden Watson later completed an outstanding hat-trick performance in the 63rd minute after he powered through the defensive line to score. Dylan Brettle then followed suit with another try late in the contest to secure a hat-trick of his own.

Victory Isaako was effective with the boot, converting five tries in an important contribution to Storm’s 42-point performance.

The victory marked one of Storm’s Jersey Flegg sides most complete attacking displays of the season, with Hayden Watson and Dylan Brettle combining for six tries in a remarkable performance from the home side.

Melbourne Storm’s Jersey Flegg side will have a bye in Round 15 before hosting the Raiders at Seabrook Reserve on Sunday June 21st.
