Melbourne Storm’s female U17 and U19 teams travelled to Sydney last weekend to take on the St George Dragons in Round 2, producing a memorable weekend for the club. Storm’s Tarsha Gale side recorded their first-ever win in the competition, while the U17s continued their strong start to the season.
Lisa Fiaola Cup (U17)
Melbourne’s U17 side delivered another dominant performance on Saturday, defeating the Dragons 34–6.
Storm came out firing in the opening half, crossing for four tries to take a commanding 22–0 lead into the break. The young squad maintained their momentum in the second half, adding three more tries while restricting the Dragons to just one for the match.
Ocean Kaiwai-Rangikauhata was a standout, scoring a hat-trick and converting accurately.
Storm remain undefeated to start their 2026 campaign and will be back on the road this weekend, travelling to Raymond Terrace to take on the Newcastle Knights.
Tarsha Gale Cup (U19)
Storm’s U19s also travelled to Sydney to face the Dragons and produced a gutsy performance to secure a historic victory, the Club’s first-ever win in the Tarsha Gale Cup 26-16.
The opening half was tightly contested, with Melbourne pulling away late to take a 14–4 lead into the break. The Dragons responded with pressure after half-time, but Storm showed composure and resilience in defence to hold the Dragons out to get the win.
Serra Teo was outstanding, scoring two tries and converting three.
The Tarsha Gale squad will look to carry their winning momentum into Round 3, when they too travel to Raymond Terrace to take on the Knights.
