New chapter begins at Club training day

On Saturday, Melbourne Storm held its now annual whole club training session at the home of local rugby league club Pakenham Eels in Melbourne's south-east.

The day marked a major milestone for the club, featuring the largest squad gathering in Storm history which included the Club's two brand new female sides (U17s and U19s) training alongside NRL squad and Male Junior Representative sides for the first time.

The special day brought together all seven Melbourne Storm squads, showcasing the Club’s ongoing commitment to strengthening grassroots rugby league at all levels in Victoria and providing a tangible pathways with those in the junior ranks to aspire to pull on the purple jersey at the highest level.

In total, more than 150 players were in attendance at Comely Banks Reserve with all players hearing from NRL Head Coach Craig Bellamy prior to the session starting. Several players from across the Junior Representative and NSW Cup and NRL squads were also recognised for their strong pre-seasons to date.

The session was delivered as part of the Road to AAMI Park strategy, which focuses on identifying and nurturing Victorian rugby league talent, building stronger connections with junior clubs, and ensuring the Storm continues to play an important role in the community.

Season 2026 will kick off for the male and female U17 and U19 competitions on Saturday 7 February, with the Jersey Flegg (U21) and NSW Cup campaigns commencing in line with Round 1 of the NRL.
