Storm U21s surge into the Grand Final

Melbourne Storm U21s delivered a commanding performance on the weekend, defeating the Cronulla Sharks 38-10 to secure their place in the Jersey Flegg Grand Final in two weeks.

Head Coach Mark Russell praised the team’s unity,  "I think that was the biggest thing for me on the weekend, seeing how connected we really were."

Storm came out firing, crossing for five first-half tries to take a dominant 30-0 lead into the break. They carried their momentum through the second half, backing it up with strong defensive efforts.

Russell said he “could name the whole team” as standouts but singled out Mitchell Jennings, “he was outstanding” along with Dylan Brettle, Eli Morris and Hugo Peel. He also praised his forward pack.

The U21s now turn their focus to the Grand Final on Sunday 28 September.

"We’ll take a couple of days now to recover, but we will straight back to work. I think that's been the key to us all year, that we train at a higher standard than we play."

Storm will face the winner of this week’s Preliminary Final between Cronulla Sharks and Penrith Panthers.
