Melbourne Storm’s feeder team, the Sunshine Coast Falcons, were in action over the weekend in Week 1 of the finals, facing the Ipswich Jets in an elimination match.
The Falcons fell agonisingly short of progressing, going down 24-25 in golden point.
After a slow start that saw them trail 10-24 at half-time, the Falcons responded strongly in the second half, crossing for three tries while keeping the Jets scoreless. However, missed conversions ultimately proved costly.
With the game locked up at full-time, Ipswich secured the win in golden point with a field goal.
Lazarus Vaalepu featured standout for the Falcons, delivering a dominant performance and strong minutes on the field.
Unfortunately, the result brings the Falcons’ 2025 season to an end.
