Feeder Report: Round 21 and Round 24

Melbourne Storm’s feeder teams — the Sunshine Coast Falcons and North Sydney Bears — were in action over the weekend, competing in Round 21 of the Queensland Cup and Round 24 of the NSW Cup, with the Brisbane Tigers having a bye.

Sunshine Coast Falcons

The Falcons claimed a dominant 32-0 victory over the Redcliffe Dolphins.

Sunshine Coast controlled the contest from the outset, taking a 16-0 lead into half-time before carrying their momentum through the second half and keeping the Dolphins scoreless.

Lazarus Vaalepu and Nelson Asofa-Solomona both played influential roles in the win.

The Falcons will look to extend their form when they face the Ipswich Jets this Saturday.

North Sydney Bears

The Bears fell just short in a nail-biting clash with the Sydney Roosters, going down 24-28.

Scores were locked 12-12 at half-time, before the Bears fought hard to edge ahead. But a late Roosters try in the 79th minute saw North Sydney narrowly get defeated.

Moses Leo, Bronson Garlick, and K-CI Newton-Whare were among the Bears’ standouts.

After two narrow defeats in as many weeks, the Bears will be eager to bounce back when they face the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles on Sunday.
