NRL Indigenous Youth Summit Ambassador 2025

Representing Melbourne Storm, Meerah Sehgal has been named 2025's NRL Female Youth Ambassador.

A total of 68 Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Māori Year 11 students, nominated by their NRL clubs, gathered on Darkinjung land on the NSW Central Coast last week for a four-day intensive program.

The summit, part of the NRL School to Work program, immersed participants in workshops focused on sharing culture, developing leadership skills, and promoting wellbeing.

At the conclusion of the summit, two Youth Ambassadors were selected by their peers from a group of Top 20 participants who were nominated by staff and group mentors.

Among them was Meerah Sehgal who was representing Melbourne Storm, a proud Yorta Yorta woman, named 2025 Youth Ambassador for her leadership, commitment to education, and deep connection to culture and community.

“It feels like such an unreal, surreal experience, I feel incredibly grateful and lucky,” she said.

“I learnt so much from every other leader at the summit, and I am who I am now, and who I’m going to be in the future—because of everyone there and what they’ve all taught me.

“I feel like I’ve gained so much confidence. I really came out of my shell.”
