Feeder Report: Round 18 and Round 20

Melbourne Storm’s feeder teams — the Sunshine Coast Falcons, Brisbane Tigers, and North Sydney Bears were in action over the weekend, competing in Round 18 of the Queensland Cup and Round 20 of the NSW Cup.

Sunshine Coast Falcons

The Falcons had a dominant performance on the weekend, defeating the Northern Pride 42-4.

Sunshine Coast came flying out of the blocks, completely controlling the first half. They ran in four tries and took a commanding 24-0 lead into the break.

The Falcons continued their momentum into the second half, adding another three tries while restricting the Pride to just one for the afternoon.

Jonah Pezet and Lazarus Vaalepu both featured for the Falcons and played key roles in the win.

The Falcons will look to keep their winning form going when they take on the Tweed Seagulls this Saturday at 5pm.

Brisbane Tigers

The Brisbane Tigers unfortunately suffered a heavy loss, going down 6-48 to the Burleigh Bears on Saturday.

The Tigers got off to a slow start and struggled to get into the game, conceding five tries in the first half to trail 0-24 at the break. While they managed to cross for the first try of the second half, it wasn’t enough to turn the momentum, as Burleigh added four more tries to seal the win.

Coby Williamson, Keagan Russell-Smith, and Josiah Pahulu all featured and logged important minutes.

The Tigers will look to regroup and bounce back this weekend when they face the Mackay Cutters.

North Sydney Bears

The North Sydney Bears went down 18-32 to the New Zealand Warriors on Saturday.

The Bears were slow out of the gates, allowing the Warriors to take control early and lead 18-6 at half-time.

North Sydney responded well after the break, scoring the first try of the second half and attempting to shift the momentum, but the Warriors regained control and maintained their advantage.

Siulagi Tuimalatu-Brown and Gabriel Satrick were strong contributors for the Bears.

North Sydney will aim to bounce back this Friday when they take on the Western Suburbs Magpies.
