Melbourne Storm’s General Manager – Football, Frank Ponissi, has given an update on the Club’s injured players ahead of their Round 2 clash against the New Zealand Warriors at AAMI Park on Saturday.

After re-injuring his groin in Fiji last month, Cameron Munster may be eyeing a return to the field from Round 3. Ponissi shared that the five-eighth is close to once again pulling on the No.6 jersey, but added he may be given an extra week of rest due to Storm’s upcoming bye in Round 4.

“Given the time of the season the medical staff are being very conservative at the moment, but if he's okay for next Sunday against Newcastle, we'll play him.” Ponissi said.

Following a limited pre-season, forward Nelson Asofa-Solomona is also eyeing a return to the game-day squad. A hamstring injury has kept him off the field for the past few weeks, but since returning to full training, Asofa-Solomona will aim to run out with the Club’s Hostplus Cup feeder team, the Sunshine Coast Falcons over the weekend.

Grant Anderson, will get his first taste of footy in 2024 when he runs out for the Falcons after undergoing shoulder surgery in the off-season.

Bronson Garlick and Ammaron ‘AJ’ Gudgeon will also look to return to full training by the end of the month.
