Season in Review: Joe Chan

After two years in the Super League, Joe Chan’s first season with Melbourne Storm was one to remember.

Quickly integrating into the Club throughout pre-season, Chan spent most of his 2023 developing with Storm’s Queensland HostPlus feeder team, the Brisbane Tigers.

Appearing in 18 clashes, including Brisbane’s Grand Final win over the Burleigh Bears, the 21-year-old layed down five tries, 1,909 total run metres, 320 tackles and 48 tackle-breaks, ultimately resulting in him taking home the Tigers Rookie of the Year award.

The St Clair Comets junior went on to become Storm player #233 when he made his debut in the final round of the regular season. Playing 21 minutes off the bench, Chan recorded 32 post-contact metres, 10 tackles and five hit-ups alongside becoming the latter half of Storm’s first father-son duo to don the purple jersey (father Alex Chan is player #71).
