Stats that matter: Round 20 v Roosters

Check out the stats that matter from Melbourne Storm's Round 20 clash with the Roosters!

Facing the Roosters for the third time this season

Storm’s trip to the SCG on Saturday night was their third encounter against the Roosters this season, facing off in the preseason and then again in Round 6 where Storm was triumphant 28-8 at AAMI Park.

Storm boast an impressive record against the Bondi-based outfit, winning seven of their past eight matches spanning across the past four seasons.

Coates nabs second hattrick

For the second time this season, Xavier Coates crossed for a hat-trick of tries, the second time he has done so against the Roosters this season after first achieving the feat in their Round 6 clash.

Coates has now scored a remarkable six tries in his two games against the Roosters this season, with just under half his total tally of tries for the season coming against the tricolours.

Three milestones

Saturday night was a special occasion for three Storm players, Reimis Smith and Justin Olam both playing NRL game 100 while Tom Eisenhuth celebrated NRL game 50.

Olam’s milestone made even the more special given his one club player status while both Smith and Eisenhuth have had memorable careers since making the switch to Storm colours.

Both Olam and Smith were at their damaging best on Saturday night, racking up seven and four tackle breaks respectively while Eisenhuth provided plenty of impact off the bench making 22 tackles in his 39-minute stint.
