Team announcement: ANZAC Round v Warriors

Melbourne Storm is set to regain key front-rower Nelson Asofa-Solomona and fullback Nick Meaney for the annual ANZAC Day match against the NZ Warriors on Tuesday night.

On the way back after injuring his knee in the round two loss to Canterbury, Asofa-Solomona has been named in Storm’s starting pack, replacing the suspended Tui Kamikamica, who will also miss the Magic Round clash with South Sydney.

Meaney, Storm’s leading pointscorer in 2023, regains the No.1 jersey after missing last week’s loss to Manly when he experienced delayed concussion symptoms following the Roosters game in round six.

Cameron Munster reverts to his usual five-eighth role with rookie Jonah Pezet dropping back to the extended interchange bench.

The ANZAC game will also see Storm defend the Mick Moore Trophy, which honours the club’s former football manager who passed away at age 35 in Auckland 23 years ago.

The Warriors come into ANZAC Round as one of the form teams in the NRL, with five wins in the opening seven rounds lifting them to third place, two points ahead of Melbourne.

This will be the 50th meeting overall between the Trans-Tasman rivals with Storm currently leading the head-to-head 31-16 with two draws.

Kickoff is at 7pm following the traditional ANZAC Day ceremony which gets underway at 6.36pm.
