Tahlia Wheatley from Bundoora Secondary College has been announced as the winner of the School to Work Program Young Person of the Year Award.

A proud Yorta Yorta woman, Tahlia was a deserving winner having achieved high academic excellence at school, alongside having represented Victoria at the National Indigenous Tennis Carnival in Darwin, placing 4th overall.

After Tahlia was selected as the winner from many applications received by the Program, Melbourne Storm player Josh King visited Tahlia at her school.

King presented her with his match-worn Indigenous Round jersey, a $100 Doordash voucher and four tickets to a Melbourne Storm game next season.

“Thank you for choosing me for the Young Person of the Year Award, I am so very grateful to receive this award. It means a lot.” Tahlia said after the forward visited her school, in front of peers.

The School to Work program would like to thank Josh King for his generosity in donating his Indigenous Jersey to a School to Work participant and taking the time out to visit Bundoora Secondary College to deliver his jersey in person.
