Team List: Round 23 v Broncos

Reigning Player of the Year Jahrome Hughes is set to return for Melbourne Storm in Friday night’s NRL match against the Brisbane Broncos at Suncorp Stadium.

The Kiwi halfback has been named in the No.7 jersey after missing the 16-0 win against Penrith last week due to a sore shoulder sustained in the Round 21 victory against the Gold Coast Titans at AAMI Park.

Cooper Johns drops out of the 22-man squad along with centre Marion Seve who has a low-grade hamstring injury.

Seve’s place in the centres will be taken by Young Tonumeipea, who comes into the Storm starting line-up for his second game in three weeks following his mid-season arrival.

In the forward pack, Origin back-rower Felise Kaufusi has been given another week of personal leave following the passing of his father Taniela. Tom Eisenhuth and Josh King have been named in the starting pack, switching with Brandon Smith and Tui Kamikamica who were starters against the Panthers.

It will be King’s 100th NRL match, while hooker Harry Grant will reach the 50-game milestone.

Among the inclusions on the extended bench are young forward Trent Loiero who has been absent with a back injury since the Round 14 meeting with the Broncos.

Dean Ieremia was unavailable for selection after picking up a hamstring injury in the Hostplus Cup at the weekend. He is likely to be sidelined for around two months.
