Team Update: Round 21 v Titans

Young Tonumeipea is in line to play his first Melbourne Storm game in 1,483 days after being brought into the starting team for Friday night’s Round 21 match against the Gold Coast Titans.

Tonumeipea played 43 NRL games for Storm between 2014 and 2018 – his last game was a win against Manly on July 14, 2018 – before leaving the club to undertake a religious mission. He rejoined Storm on a train and trial contract in June after playing a season of rugby with the Melbourne Rebels.

The 29-year-old has been brought into the centres to replace Grant Anderson in the 24-hour team update for Storm’s Women in League game.

Xavier Coates, Cooper Johns and Alec MacDonald remain in the 19, with Chris Lewis and Jordan Grant joining Anderson in dropping out of the squad of 22 named on Tuesday.

Jahrome Hughes will play his 100th Storm game, while Jesse and Kenny Bromwich will become the first pair of brothers to reach the 500-game milestone in combined appearances.
