Melbourne Storm are on the hunt to continue their record of 21 consecutive opening game wins when their 2022 season finally kicks off this Saturday against the Wests Tigers.

Team News 


Xavier Coates, Nick Meaney and Josh King will all make their Storm starting team debuts with Tyran Wishart and Jayden Nikorima closing in on their NRL debuts after being included on the interchange bench. 

Meaney will don the No.6 jersey with Cameron Munster suspended for round one. Brandon Smith will start as hooker with Harry Grant also suspended. 

Tepai Moeroa has been added to the squad of 24 after Jesse Bromwich was deemed a close contact, leaving Christian Welch to Captain for our season opener.

Wests Tigers 

England international Oliver Gildart, Tyrone Peachey and Jack Hastings will also make their Club debuts. 

Returning from injury during pre-season trials, Daine Laurie will wear the No.1 jersey after a strong 2021 debut season. 

One of the five leaders named for 2022, halfback Luke Brooks will Captain the squad for the Round 1 hit-out.

Parking & Access 

As there is no on-site parking available at CommBank Stadium, public transport is highly recommended. 

If you plan to drive to the event, consider public parking stations close to the venue. 

COVID safety 

It's really important to take responsibility for your own social distancing at the venue. Please maintain 1.5 metres between yourself and other patrons (who are not family members or people you live with) at all times. 

  • Masks are encouraged in general areas of the stadium
  • The event will be cashless (card only)
  • Entry is strictly through the gate displayed on your ticket
  • You must sit at your allocated seat
  • Food, beverage and toilet facilities are available for each zone
  • Maintain hand hygiene and stay home if you are feeling unwell. 

Please arrive early - due to COVID restrictions and social distancing, queues may be longer than usual.
