Welchy and Foxx bring up the ton

Storm State of Origin players Josh Addo-Carr and Christian Welch bring up 100 games for the club in the Good Friday clash against Brisbane at AAMI Park. But do you remember their first games in the purple jersey?

Christian Welch

Storm debut: Round 9 2015 v Parramatta at Parramatta Stadium

Player number: 167

A member of Storm’s NYC under-20s team in 2013 and 2014, Christian’s NRL debut arrived as he approached his 21st birthday.

He came on in the second half against the Eels and played the final 25 minutes to help seal a 28-10 victory away from home. Billy Slater scored a double as Storm outscored Parra 18-0 after halftime.

Christian had five runs for 29 metres to go with nine tackles and went on to make another nine first grade appearances for the season, all from the interchange bench.

Jesse Bromwich, Dale Finucane and Kenny Bromwich are the only current Storm players who were in the line-up that day.

Josh Addo-Carr

Storm debut: Round 1 2017 v Canterbury at Belmore

Player number: 176

The “Foxx” came to Melbourne after playing nine games for Wests Tigers and went straight into Storm’s run-on team for the opening game of the season.

In a relatively dour contest on a rainy afternoon, Storm led 12-6 and went on to claim the points after a scoreless first half.

Josh didn’t hit the tryscorers’ list, waiting until round three to post his first four-pointer for Melbourne.

However he did run for 201 metres with two linebreaks and five tackle busts in an eyecatching debut.

Josh enjoyed a fantastic first year with Storm, scoring 23 tries in 27 games and featuring in a grand final win against North Queensland.
