They were challenged early by Parramatta but in the end Melbourne's class shone through and their superstars Ryan Papenhuyzen and Josh Addo-Carr led the charge into the team of the week as the finals opened in style.
Brothers Jesse and Kenny Bromwich and powerhouse centre Justin Olam also got the nod from fans as purple reigned over myrtle and green in the race to dominate team of the week selections.
The Rabbitohs also had to come from behind against the Knights but once their attack clicked into gear they were unstoppable as Cameron Murray and Damien Cook led them into week two of the play-offs.
