New Zealand international Brandon Smith and State of Origin rep Christian Welch return to Craig Bellamy’s starting team for the first time this season for our round three clash with the Canberra Raiders at AAMI Park on Saturday night.
Smith, last year’s Dally M Interchange Player of the Year, missed the opening two rounds of 2020 as he recovered from a facial fracture sustained during the NRL All Stars clash in February.
Welch has been named in the number 16 jersey and will be raring to make his long-awaited NRL comeback after 41 weeks on the sidelines.
He ruptured his ACL in round 20 last year, in a game where he also scored a try in our 40-4 win over the Broncos.
Tui Kamikamica will be rested (sore back), with Nelson Asofa-Solomona returning to his starting role after coming off the bench in the opening two rounds.
Both Melbourne and Canberra are unbeaten entering round three and although fans won’t be able to see the game in person, you can still watch all the action on Fox Sports and Kayo or via the NRL Live Pass.
