Halfback Ryley Jacks will wear Melbourne colours for the first time since 2018 when Storm plays NZ Warriors in their opening NRL pre-season trial in Palmerston North on Saturday.

Jacks played 25 NRL matches for Storm in the 2017-18 seasons before heading off for a season with Gold Coast Titans.

He will be part of a 24-man squad, including 16 of the players who represented Storm in the NRL Nines in Perth, who will head across the Tasman on Thursday.

The only omissions from the Nines squad are Cameron Munster and Tui Kamikamica who will return for the trial against North Queensland Cowboys at Casey Fields on February 29.

Included in the line-up to face the Warriors are Victoria Thunderbolts youngsters James Atonio and Jay Natapu, as well as three players from Storm’s Intrust Super Cup feeder clubs – Aaron Booth and Jack Peoples (Easts) and Sam Bernstrom (Sunshine Coast).

Development squad member Dan Atkinson, a fullback from the Norths Devils in Brisbane who is also part of Queensland’s under-20 Emerging Origin squad, will wear the purple for the first time.

Kickoff at Central Energy Trust Arena will be at 5pm (NZ time), 3pm (Qld time).

Storm members and fans are invited to watch the team train at Central Energy Trust Arena at 2pm on Friday.
