A fitting year full of class, distinction and brilliance is a fitting way for Billy Slater to sign off on one of the best careers in rugby league history.

The greatest fullback of all time battled adversity right up until the final week of the season yet took it all in his stride.

Slater averaged more than 120 running metres whilst kicking for 491 metres, his most since 2011.

In Round 2 the 35-year-old became just the third Storm player in history to reach the 300-game milestone.

His career comes to an end with a total of 224 wins - the fourth most all-time whilst also sitting in the top 10 for finals played (32).

Slater will remain part of the football department next season as a specialist coach with the team.
