Melbourne Storm have today unveiled their commemorative home jersey for the 2018 season.

This special edition kit is a tribute to history that will see the Club celebrate its 20th anniversary throughout next season.

The strip has been inspired by the original jersey worn by Storm during its inaugural 1998 season.

The signature ‘V’ representing Victoria returns and is showcased by the heritage colours of purple and white, while the iconic purple also features around the edging of the sleeves.

The popular yellow returns with trimming around the neck a throwback to the late 90s. Purple lightning bolts also sit on either side of the jersey.

Navy has been made the primary colour to commemorate the original Storm jerseys worn during the Club’s formative years.

Emblazoned on the front is the new Storm logo that was revealed on Monday as part of a launch of the 20-year celebrations.

The design for the jersey was created in collaboration with apparel partner ISC, an industry-leading supplier of on-field playing gear.

Other features of the home kit are navy shorts and socks, with next season’s socks featuring purple hoops similar to those worn during the first 10 years.

This 2018 home jersey is available now to be pre-ordered from the Club’s online merchandise store, with members to receive their 10 per cent discount.

The focus next season is about Storm celebrating its rich history whilst also embarking on a new and exciting chapter. The home jersey unveiled today is a reflection of that and will serve as a year-round tribute to two decades of proud history.

“It was important our home jersey captured how proud we are of our 20-year history,” Storm CEO Dave Donaghy said.

“Drawing inspiration from the very first Storm jersey worn in 1998, our players will be reminded of our heritage every time they pull on this jersey and we have no doubt our players, members and fans will wear this jersey with great pride in 2018.”
