The U20 Thunderbolts have returned to the winner's list, defeating the New Zealand Warriors 36-20 on the Sunshine Coast on Sunday afternoon.

Eric Smith’s men started the game in scintillating form, scoring a try as a direct result from a Scott Drinkwater 40/20 in the very first set of the match.

The Thunderbolts posted a further three tries in the first half, including an entertaining long range team effort finished off by captain Jesse Arthars.

The Warriors got on the score board just before half time, reducing the deficit at the break to 18-4.

Warriors winger Lewis Soosemea scored his second try shortly after the break which closed the gap even further.

The Thunderbolts responded by switching it up a gear and running away with the match with further tries to Dale Madden, Jake Elmore, and Tevita Alifa.

The young Storm side eventually took their foot off the gas late in the second half, allowing the Warriors in twice to finish the contest with  two consolation tries.
