Sunshine Coast Falcons

The U20 Thunderbolts went down 22-36 at Sunshine Coast Stadium on Sunday afternoon, defeated by the U20 Sharks.

Coach Eric Smith’s side found themselves on the wrong end of the score board at the half time break after conceding 18 unanswered points during the opening 40 minutes.

The Sharks played some enterprising football in the first half and made the most of their opportunities in attack with a set piece try on the stroke of half-time siren giving the visitors a handy buffer at the break.

The Thunderbolts responded brilliantly early in the second half scoring four consecutive tries and snatching a 22-18 lead with 20 minutes left in the match.

That was the last time the Thunderbolts would score however, with the rest of the game being dominated by the Sharks.

Louis Geraghty was a standout for the Thunderbolts, scoring two tries, with Sale Finau and Scott Drinkwater the other two players to score four points each.

The Thunderbolts now head to Brookvale Oval to take on Manly next Saturday afternoon.
