Storm captain Cameron Smith has been appointed the new General President of the Rugby League Players Association.
Smith was elected to the role by his peers at the RLPA’s Annual General Meeting on Monday night.
It comes at a time when CBA negotiations between the RLPA and NRL continue to progress.
“I am honoured to fill the role of General President. I’d like too thank the players for putting their trust in me,” Smith said.
“I’m very passionate about the interests of players and look forward to being a spokesperson on behalf of the players and the RLPA.
"This is a very important period for the playing group. We have the opportunity to do something very special together - to move the game forward and take it to places where we have never been before. Not only for ourselves, but for future players, including those currently playing at grassroots, and to make it an even better experience for the fans and everyone involved in our great Game.”
Be there for our next home game at AAMI Park in Round 5, Saturday 1 April at 7:30pm.
