Round - Practice Match
Teams – Melbourne Storm v Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs
Date – 18th of February 2017
Venue – North Hobart Oval

You have to go back 16 years to the last time Melbourne lost a Round 1 game.

Their opponents that night in 2001 was the Canterbury Bulldogs, who the men in purple will meet again on Friday night to open their 2017 season.

The Bulldogs got the points that night with a 14-10 win at Docklands but that remains the last time Storm were defeated in Round 1.

In 2004 they indeed lost their opening game of the season against the Knights but that was in Round 2 after having a bye in the opening week.

Since then Storm have started the last 12 straight seasons with a 1-0 record.

Those Round 1 wins have come at an average margin of just over 10 points with only Manly (2014) able to score more than 20 points against over that stretch.

It is an incredible record held by Craig Bellamy and his men and one they will be looking to continue when the boys run onto Belmore tomorrow night at 6pm.
