The Cowboys were red hot favourites to take out the 2017 Auckland Nines crown but Storm have produced one of the all-time great Nines performances to run out 25-12 winners.

Not many gave Melbourne a chance of coming out on top in this Quarter Final but this young and exciting group paid little attention to the doubters.

Eye catching first half tries to Josh Addo-Carr, Ryley Jacks and Young Tonumaipea saw Storm head into the break with a healthy buffer.

The expectation was that the Cowboys would overrun the men in purple but the opposite came to fruition.

Slade Griffin extended the lead before Addo-Carr secured his double, giving Storm fans everywhere a reason to smile on their Sunday afternoon.
