Who will play five-eighth for Storm in 2017?

Plenty of names have been thrown into the air over the pre-season so far.

The departure of the experienced Blake Green has meant there is an opportunity for one of the Club’s many exciting young playmakers to take the step up to partner Cooper Cronk in the halves.

Cameron Munster is one candidate that has been put forward, as he is touted to make a possible switch from fullback with the pending return of Billy Slater.

The 22-year-old youngster established himself at the top level last season with outstanding performances in the No.1 however he admits he would be open to a change of scenery.

“I have been training at five-eighth, a couple of boys have been training there as well,” Munster said.

“We’ve got a couple of good, young talents coming through…. we’ve got a couple of options. That No.6 has not really been cemented yet so it will depend on the trials and I guess how well we go during the pre-season.”

While Slater’s return to the field has meant a re-shuffle in the playing squad, Munster could not hide his excitement at seeing the Storm superstar back out at training.

“One-hundred percent. He’s had a couple of injuries the last couple of years, I really feel for him. He is a really good bloke, even better player,” Munster said.

“He’s been training really well, with him out there with his talk and his communication, just being around him makes you want to be a better player.

“That is when everyone get’s the best out of themselves, having guys like him, Coops and Smithy around.”
