Melbourne Storm U20

The Thunderbolts have received their draw for the 2017 NYC competition.

They play nine games at Sunshine Coast Stadium, including four of their last six, with four games to be played as double headers with the Falcons’ Queensland Cup games (Round 5, 6, 13, 18).

As they did in 2016 against the Knights, Storm’s Under-20s will return to AAMI Park to play the curtain raiser to Melbourne’s Saturday night clash against the Cowboys in Round 15.

The Thunderbolts will also take part in a feature game on Suzuki Field against the Gold Coast Titans on the afternoon of the Round 10 NRL Double Header. Storm fans will also be able to watch the Thunderbolts three times on Fox Sports over the first 20 weeks.

The Thunderbolts have been back in pre-season training for the last six weeks and have 14 returning players that took part in the 2016 season. Eric Smith will again coach the team as they look to improve on their eight win in 2016.

Jake Turpin and Charlie Galo have graduated from the Thunderbolts program into the NRL squad, following the path of Joe Stimson and Suliasi Vunivalu the previous season.

Under-20s players Brodie Croft, Harry Grant and Cory Parker were recently named in the Queensland State of Origin Emerging Under 20 Squad for 2017.

The team will play a curtain raiser prior to the NRL trial match between the Storm and Warriors at Sunshine Coast Stadium on February 11.
