Christian Welch took big steps forward at NRL level in 2016.

He averaged 22 minutes in his 17 games this season but still ranked second at the Club for offloads behind Jesse Bromwich, with 25 in total.

Welch made one start in the front row, against the Cowboys in Round 21.

The 22-year-old often came off the bench in the second half to provide tremendous spark and aggression as players around him began to tire.

When not playing first grade, Welch was among the best for feeder side Easts Tigers in the Queensland Cup.
