Melbourne Storm U20

Despite having almost no previous experience in the NYC competition heading into 2016, the Thunderbolts showed terrific signs of development as the season went on.

They began the year with a big 44-24 win over the Dragons to kick off life on the Sunshine Coast in style.

Just one win from their next seven games followed as they learned the ropes of a tough competition.

Significant signs of improvement began to show with a 38-12 win over Wests Tigers in Round 16, followed by victory over the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium the following week.

Those results were a part of a run that saw them win five of seven games.

The Thunderbolts concluded 2016 in 12th position, with eight wins and plenty of lessons learned. Something that will only improve the team heading into next season.

Jesse Arthars was the leading points scorer in the NYC competition while Louis Geraghty was awarded the U20s Darren Bell Medal as the Thunderbolts’ Player of the Year.
