Storm COO Danielle Smith says the Club is ‘very excited’ to be involved in the growth and promotion of netball in Australia.

On Thursday morning, Storm was nominated by Netball Australia as a preferred bidder for one of three new team licences under their expansion plans.

“Melbourne Storm have partnered with the University of the Sunshine Coast for this project and we’re both very proud and excited to have reached the preferred bidder stage for a license in the new national netball league,” Smith said at the announcement press conference on Thursday.

“Melbourne is obviously our key home base but we also see this as an opportunity to strengthen our links with Queensland and grow our fan base even further.

“We’re very excited to be involved in the growth and promotion of netball and the new domestic competition.”
