Christian Welch was one of four Storm players to make their first grade debut in 2015.

The level headed Welch, who was recruited from Storm's feeder club Easts Tigers, made an unexpected first-grade debut after travelling with the first team for the club’s Round 9 away trip to Parramatta.

Welch was initially used as an extra body at training. However, when Tom Learoyd-Lahrs was injured during the Captain’s Run, Welch was drafted in as a late replacement.

The 21-year old came on in the second half against the Eels and played the final 25 minutes as Storm sealed a 28-10 victory away from home. Welch went on to make 10 first grade appearances for the season.
