Departing Storm winger Matt Duffie will be looking to make his final home appearance a memorable one when he runs onto AAMI Park for the final time as a Storm player on Saturday night.

“It’s very exciting, I never thought I’d probably end up in this position,” said Duffie looking ahead to Melbourne’s home Preliminary Final.

“I’ve been enjoying my time around the boys and I’m excited for Saturday.”

The Auckland Blues bound Duffie says his focus is very much on finishing the season strongly with Storm as the Club moves towards the Preliminary Final. Saturday night will be Duffie’s 62nd game in Storm colours after making his first-grade debut for the Club in 2010.

“I’ve been here seven years so I’ve sort of grown up in this place. It was very tough (making the decision to leave) but at the same time I’m excited about the new chapter in Auckland,” Duffie said.

“My head is very much in the Storm jersey.

“With the two years on the sidelines, that’s a massive motivating factor as well as leaving, I’m not going to be short of motivation on Saturday.

“It’s an exciting time, we’re in the prelim final at home and it’s going to be great to see 30,000 Melburnian’s turn out for us.”
