Matt Duffie has expressed his appreciation to Melbourne Storm for sticking by him during his recovery from a serious run of injuries.

The flying winger made his return to first-grade football in Round 20 this year, 847 days after his last NRL appearance and has since strung together four straight games.

Be there for Monday Mates Night at AAMI Park when Storm host the Knights on Monday 24 August!

"I wanted to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the Melbourne Storm for their patience during my extended recovery, only a really decent club would have such faith in someone after such an extended period with injury," Duffie told the media.

"It has been a long journey, I've had a great support system around me from the club and various people outside the club.

"It's just pleasing to get back out there and repay the faith the club has shown in me."

Known for his athletic wing play and aerial skills, the New Zealand international has shown he has not lost his try scoring ability in recent weeks, scoring doubles in his last two appearances against the Sharks and Titans.

"I'm four games in and I'm feeling good and feeling very grateful. I'm just happy at the moment," Duffie said.

"I feel like I've got a lot to offer this team.

"I'm definitely a lot older and more mature than I was back in 2012. I took a lot of things for granted."
