NRL Head of Football Todd Greenberg thanked all players and supporters for their patience and understanding tonight in difficult circumstances.

"It was unfortunate we had to reschedule the matches but we had to consider the safety of the players – and the interests of supporters," Mr Greenberg said.

"We worked with all our stakeholders – including the NZRL, Suncorp Stadium, NRL clubs,  the NSWRL and the QRL as well as the two teams - before making the decision to reschedule the game.

"I also want to thank the players, the broadcasters and the RLPA for working with us and coming up with a new program for the representative weekend.

"We understand that  some supporters will have travelled long distances to watch the match tonight and we apologise for the inconvenience.

"But I am sure everyone realises these were extraordinary weather conditions and we had no option but to reschedule the matches set down for tonight."
