A young Melbourne Storm outfit has recorded a 44-12 win over Queensland Cup affiliate Easts Tigers on Saturday night on Gosch's Paddock.

A try-scoring burst in the second and third quarters of the match sealed the result with the Storm attack proving too potent for the Tigers' defence.

With the game opening up with both sides implementing heavy rotations the scoring began to flow during the second stanza with the Tigers opening their account during the last quarter of play.

Victorian centre Mahe Fonua got out on the park for his first run of 2015, scoring a breakaway try during the first half and getting through the match injury free.

Earlier, winger Travis Robinson opened the scoring after an even opening before a flurry of tries from Melbourne allowed the hosts to kick away from their Queensland Cup counterpart. Three unanswered tries from Cameron Munster, Mahe Fonua and Billy Brittain in quick succession sent Melbourne into half-time holding a 22-0 lead.

A solid second half performance allowed Storm to consolidate their half-time lead and finish the match 44-12 winners.

Brothers Latrell and Travis Robinson also took the field for the first time in a Storm jersey.
