Earlier this week, U20 Thunderbolts Kurt Bernard and Tristan Sami hit the tools, donating their time to help redevelop Mernda woman Lee White's backyard.

Ms White tragically lost her son Ashley prior to Christmas while her youngest daughter Sam has terminal cancer. In November, local Melbourne radio station 3AW ran a campaign to support the White family with local communities pitching in to help raise $30,000 and find the family a new bulldog puppy.

As a part of the campaign, local businessman Andy Yore who runs a landscaping business and is linked with the Club offered to excavate and redevelop the White's backyard to make it suitable for the family's new puppy.

With the help of Bernard, Sami and his suppliers who donated the necessary dirt, instant turf and concrete, the White's backyard was completed.
