Over 500 Victorian boys and girls participated in the 2014 Billy Slater Shield Finals at Elwood Park on Tuesday.

A big day for grassroots rugby league in Victoria saw the finals held after 22 qualifiers were run across the state in the lead up with over 5,000 boys and girls participating throughout the entire tournament.

The top 24 boys and top 24 girls sides progressed to the state final held at Elwood Park with schools from areas ranging from Wallan, Sunbury, Essendon, Truganina, Ocean Grove, Greensborough, Lilydale, Cranbourne, Rosebud, Dandenong and Mildura all represented. 

Back in pre-season training with Storm, fullback Billy Slater was also on hand to address the teams before the tournament commenced and kick-off proceedings.
 

Boys Tackle

Semi Final 1: Cranbourne East P.S 12 defeated Rosebud P.S 8 (Golden Point)

Semi Final 2: The Grange College 20 defeated Wallan P.S 8

 

State Final: THE GRANGE COLLEGE 28 defeated Cranbourne East P.S 4

Girls Tackle

Semi Final 1: Kurunjang P.S 12 defeated Truganina South P.S 4

Semi Final 2: Parkdale P.S 16 defeated Sunbury Heights P.S 4

 

State Final: KURUNJANG P.S 12 defeated Parkdale P.S 8
