The NRL/Melbourne Storm Development - School Sport Victoria Grade 5/6 Billy Slater Shield Girls Tag State Final was played at Elwood Park on Tuesday with Kismet Park P.S defeating Berwick Fields P.S. This State Final has grown from 12 schools in the inaugural year of the Girls Tag in 2013 to 20 schools in 2014.

The top 20 Girls Tag Schools from across Victoria competed for the Girls Tag Shield. The schools that qualified through various District Qualifiers for this State Final were drawn from metropolitan areas including Craigieburn, Melton, Monbulk, Berwick and regional locations of Flinders on the Mornington Peninsula,  Queenscliff on the Bellarine Peninsula and Mildura on the Victoria and New South Wales border.

After 80 fantastic matches, Berwick Fields P.S, Melton P.S, Kismet Park P.S & St Joseph's P.S won their respective pools to progress through to the Semi Finals.

In Semi Final 1 - Berwick Fields P.S defeated St Joseph's P.S 8-4 while in Semi Final 2 - Kismet Park P.S were victorious 4-0 against Melton P.S.

The State Final was a classic match but 2 tries from Player of the Final - Jade Dunne (Kismet Park P.S) were the difference with Kismet Park P.S defeating Berwick Fields P.S 8-0.

Next week is State Finals week in Victoria with the Grade 5/6 Billy Slater Shield Tackle State Final day next Tuesday 25th November at Elwood Park where the top 24 boys and girls tackle teams will compete for State Final glory and Thursday 27th November the Grade 7/8 Robbie Kearns Shield Boys Tackle & Girls Tag State Final also at Elwood Park.
