Melbourne Storm players partnered with NRL Game Development Officers on Saturday 14 June to help deliver the Back to the Juniors program at local VRL clubs.
Storm players were allocated to five VRL club venues to undertake specific volunteer roles during their visit. The 21 players lent their support by cooking the BBQ, acting as a team scorers, running a touch line and running the water.
Be at AAMI Park in Round 15 when Storm take on the Eels. Book your tickets here.
The Back to the Juniors concept involves those that work within the game to live a day in the shoes of volunteers and undertake game day activities at local clubs this weekend in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.
Victorian Storm player, Young Tonumaipea will volunteer at his former junior club Northern Thunder, while Kenny Bromwich, who played Under 18’s with the South Eastern Titans, will be at the same venue where he first played Rugby League in Victoria.
Players visited the following games:
Craigieburn Phoenix v Casey Warriors – Hothlyn Reserve Craigieburn
Sunbury Tigers v Eastern/Doveton – Langama Park, Sunbury
Melton Broncos v Northern Thunder – Mt Carberry Reserve, Melton South
North West Wolves v Altona Roosters – AJ Davis, Niddrie
