Melbourne Storm Coach Craig Bellamy has named his side to take on Canberra in the club's first trial match of 2014.

A young Melbourne side will take the park on Saturday evening against the Raiders, with plenty of opportunities given to Storm's new 2014 recruits.

First year Storm additions Cody Walker, Joel Romelo, George Rose, Ben Roberts, Matt Lodge, Felise Kaufusi, Richie Kennar and Hymel Hunt have all been named in Storm's 25 man squad.

Speaking exclusively to Storm TV, Storm Coach Craig Bellamy discussed his expectations for the trial match which will be held on the same afternoon as the club's 2014 Family Day.

"Its a great chance for the fans to get out there and meet the players and actually watch them play as well. There will be some new players to our club, that I am sure the members will be very interested in watching," Bellamy said.

"The things I'll be looking for is obviously the things we have practiced in the pre-season, actually putting out onto the field under a bit of pressure and under a bit of fatigue.

"We have a lot of new players and young players to our club, we've got a couple of U20s playing as well so it will be interesting to see what they have got to offer. I'm sure they'll get a chance to show that on Saturday afternoon."

Storm fans can expect to see former Manly forward George Rose for the first time in Storm colours on Saturday with the premiership forward named to line up in the front-row.

"George has had a pretty tough pre-season like all the other players, he's really tried hard and kept going in the pre-season," Bellamy said.

"He's got some great talent with the footy in hand and hopefully defensively he can work really hard there.

"I think he will certainly add something to our side, it will be interesting to see how he shapes up on Saturday."

There will also be opportunities for Melbourne's playmakers on Saturday night, staking their claim for a permanent position in the halves. Ben Hampton, Cody Walker, Joel Romelo and Ben Roberts will all get chances during stages of the trial match according to Bellamy.

"You'd probably think Ben Hampton is leading the way there at the moment to grab that spot," Bellamy said.

"We've seen some good stuff from Cody in the pre-season and we also will be looking at Joel Romelo and Ben Roberts in the halves too."

Justin O'Neill and Matt Duffie will lead a young crop of outside backs on Saturday with their NRL experience to be vital in the hit out. Duffie's return to the park comes after an injury cruelled season in 2014. Bellamy, like all Storm fans is pleased with how the New Zealand international has fought back and is looking forward to seeing the winger back playing on Saturday.

"We're all really proud of how he has fought back," Bellamy said.

"Hopefully on Saturday he will get out there in the rough and tumble of it and build a bit of confidence and build a bit of match condition, I'm sure if he can have a bit of luck with injuries we are going to see one hell of a player for Storm this year.

"They are a very young outside backs group who will play on Saturday night. We know there is a lot of ability within that group and hopefully they will all go on to good careers but they get a chance to start building that career on Saturday night."
