Melbourne Storm Chairman Bart Campbell says Storm’s partnership with Manchester City will be similar to that between City and the New York Yankees.

In 2013, Manchester City joined forces with the Yankees to own and create new Major League Soccer franchise New York City FC.

Speaking to Triple M’s Hot Breakfast, Campbell explained some more about the project.

“From Storm’s point of view, what we have sought to do is mirror the way they (Manchester City) have worked with the Yankees in New York to create New York City FC in the MLS,” Campbell said.

“Its a well researched and well considered decision.

“The reality is we (Melbourne Storm) will provide some commercial support in the background and we will provide some resources.

“That means we will have better people across both businesses but the specialisms of rugby league and soccer will be left to those people absolutely in their discretion who know those areas best.”
